TWAIN Driver for ScanSnap: SnapTwain
SnapTwain enables supported ScanSnap scanners to be used directly from TWAIN-compatible Windows applications. It is designed for organizations that want to keep their ScanSnap hardware while integrating scanning into a standard TWAIN workflow.
What is SnapTwain?
Many document-management, healthcare, accounting, archive, imaging and vertical-market applications use TWAIN as their scanner interface. SnapTwain provides that TWAIN interface for supported ScanSnap models so the scanner can participate in application-driven scan workflows.
The application selects SnapTwain as a TWAIN source. Scan settings can then be controlled through the driver and the acquired image is returned to the TWAIN-compatible application.
SnapTwain can also scan without showing its user interface when the calling application uses a program-controlled TWAIN workflow.
Supported ScanSnap Models
The current SnapTwain product family supports the following ScanSnap scanners:
Model support and operating-system support are separate questions: not every supported scanner model has the same processor-platform support. See the ARM64 section below.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 TWAIN Support
SnapTwain supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 on standard Intel/AMD Windows systems and can be used by both 32-bit and 64-bit TWAIN applications.
This is useful in mixed enterprise environments where an older 32-bit business application and a newer 64-bit application may both need access to the same scanner platform.
Windows 11 ARM64 / Snapdragon Support
SnapTwain provides Windows 11 ARM64 support for the ScanSnap iX2400 and ScanSnap iX2500.
For ARM64 operation, use current scanner firmware and a current compatible ScanSnap Home installation. JSE introduced this support in the SnapTwain 2.62 generation.
ARM64 support should therefore not be assumed for the older supported ScanSnap models simply because they are supported by SnapTwain on Intel/AMD Windows PCs.
For manufacturers that need native Windows-on-ARM scanner or imaging drivers, JSE also provides OEM ARM64 driver development.
